Tomás Lorenzo Eichenberg

Mr. Eichenberg was born with dual German-Chilean citizenship in Santiago de Chile. He studied law at the Universities of Bayreuth, Regensburg, Munich and Passau, and completed his Second State Examination at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court of Hamburg. He initially worked in law firms in Vienna and Hamburg with a focus on trade mark and unfair competition law. From 1995-1998 he headed the IP Department of a well-known sporting goods company in Bavaria. In 1998 he joined the EUIPO as member of the Opposition Division (Head of Unit from 2001) and functioned as Legal Advisor in the Trade Mark Department from 2003. In 2006 he moved to the Commission, where he has been responsible in particular for the legislative reforms in the areas of trade marks and designs.
